Day 1 Blood Glucose 107 1/2 medication Dosage: Going Raw (White knuckling it!)
Good day bloggers!
I'm a new blogger, so please forgive me for I know not what I'm doing.
In an effort to complete 30 days of raw food intake and make myself accountable to someone other than myself, I have decided to chronicle my journey of becoming healthier. i.e. eating cleaner, becoming more aware of my eating habits on a daily basis, and following the raw for 30 days prescription of no dairy, no sugar, no bread, no meats. Simply raw: veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds. My inspiration for trying this personal 30 day experiment came from the video: "Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days." Now that I've been inspired to eat raw, my reasons are personal and multifaceted. Here's my personal list of the various things I'd like to quit/cure by going raw for 30 days:
- Discontinue all diabetic medication
- Stop the insane amount of doctor visits
- Quit having to mail away for prescriptions
- Rid myself of constant stomachaches and frequent trips to the lavoratory
- Obliterate the constant struggle of trying to avoid foods that I know aren't good for me
- Avoid future health risks, including but not limited to, insulin injections, dialysis, loss of limbs, heart attack and/or stroke, etc. (If that's not enough to scare anyone, I just don't know what would be!)
Hope you'll enjoy my journey. I'm looking forward to creating new and healthy eating/food habits that will increase the joy in my daily life as well as for others around me.
DAY 1: Blood glucose level 107 on medication 50/1000 Janumet
Medication: Took only 1/2 dose of Janumet, discontinued 81 mg. low dose aspirin and 5 mg. lisinopril
Exercise: 30 minutes of treadmill
Food: Fruit/nuts/seeds/veggies
I grazed all day, eating the prescribed raw diet. Listening intently to my body, I only ate something if I was absolutely hungry. My toughest part of the day was around 10:00 p.m. I really craved something substantial. Unfortunately, I'm used to eating meat as a large part of my daily protein intake. Not having any sort of meat was extremely difficult today, although I had plenty of veggies and nuts. Mildly unsatisfied, I shuffled off to bed. Surprisingly, I fell asleep quickly while dreaming about fast food windows and ordering all kinds of hot, tasty meals.
